![]() Intermediate Unit 1 Mentoring Online Mentoring Orientation NOTE: Do not post answers to any questions on this page. Post your answers on the discussion tab for the page where the questions are listed. Starting August 2009, mentors and inductees may meet the requirement for their mentor/inductee sessions by meeting face to face at their school site or a site of their choosing and posting to their own page on the following wikispace: http://inducteesandmentors.iu1.wikispaces.net. The IU1 Mentoring Wiki is a tool to support mentoring in Intermediate Unit 1. The wiki will be a resource for mentors in IU1 and also contains the required orientation session directions for IU1 mentors To learn more about wikis in general you can go to http://maralinaberger.wikispaces.com and select Wiki workshop on the left. * This is optional. Required: Before each mentor can use the iu1mentoring wiki, he/she must follow the directions below. First join wikispaces: Go to http://.iu1.wikispaces.net and join iu1.wikispaces.net. You will only have to do this once. Under the words Join Now, pick a username and password that you will remember (no spaces please and at least 6 characters) IMPORTANT!Use your name or another identifier, like your IU 1 email (last name and first initial), in the login name you create, so you can be identified in your posts!Enter your email address. Leave #4, space name empty. (You can create a wikispace of your own later.) Click on the Join button. The next screen will be Welcome to Wikispaces. Don't make a new space. Go to the email account you listed for your username and you will see an email from wikispaces. Follow the directions to confirm your email. Your new account information will be shown. Remember your Username and password. If you want a tutorial click on the Watch our tours link on the Welcome to wikispaces page. Now each mentor must ask to join the iu1mentoring wiki. Go to http://mentoring.iu1.wikispaces.net. At the top you will see Join. When you ask to join, an email is sent to the organizers of the wiki. As soon as the email is received, an organizer will approve you as a member to the IU1 mentoring wiki. Once you are a member, you will be able to post items to the discussion tabs. While you are waiting for approval, you can review any of the information on the wiki. Before beginning the orientation, register on Solutionwhere so that the orientation will appear on your transcript. Click here http://www.solutionwhere.com/iu1/cw/showcourse.asp?2192 to register. As soon as your membership is approved, and you have registered on Solutionwhere, you can start the Orientation. One part of the orientation requires that you read part of the book, 101 " Answers" for New Teachers and Their Mentors by Annette L. Breaux. If you do not have this book, please email Lil Mickens, she will save one for you. The books will be available during the Mentor/Inductee sessions at the Central Office. You will see pages listed on the left. Please click on each page and read the information. Then click on the discussion tab for each page. Answer the questions. Please put a specific topic in the subject area and then your response. Inductees may post questions on the QuestionsInductee page. No posts are required for Inductees.
